The requirement (yhteiskuntatietoedellytys) is about knowing Finnish society. You can meet it in three ways, and the test is only one of them.

Frequently asked
Is this Migri’s official test?
No. Migri is responsible for the official test. Kansalaisuuskoulu is a private practice service, and we send nothing to the authorities.
Do I have to take the test?
Not always. A matriculation exam or a higher education degree completed in Finland, in Finnish or Swedish, also meets the requirement. The requirement applies to citizenship granted on application (hakemus). Under a provision of the Nationality Act, a foreign national may, on certain conditions, acquire Finnish citizenship by declaration (ilmoitus). The free practice test starts by checking your situation.
What is the exam like?
It is multiple choice, taken in Finnish or Swedish. Migri is responsible for administering the exam and for information about it.
My Finnish is not strong, or I will take the exam in Swedish. Is this for me?
Only if you already read simple Finnish. The questions, the explanations and the word help are all in Finnish, and there are no practice questions in Swedish. You can still take the exam itself in Swedish. The free practice test shows what it is like, with no account.
Are these the real exam questions?
No. We do not have the exam questions. We teach what the exam covers, and cite the source of every question.
Is it a subscription?
No. Full access is a one-time purchase, so there is nothing to cancel.
